Back in the days when personal honor was the measure of a man, a gentleman facing public disgrace and shame was visited by a friend who would urge him to pursue the only honorable course left to him.

On departing, the friend would leave a loaded pistol within easy reach, the inherent message being "Save your family and friends the added shame of seeing you on trial or imprisoned."

Gov. Blagojevich, you're busted! You're not going to weasel out of this. Do the honorable thing.
